Four young suspects arrested for drugs dealing in Diest
The Demerdal police zone has arrested four men aged 18 to 24 in Diest. They are suspected of trafficking in narcotics. The operation was the result of extensive investigation work that took months.
On Wednesday 24 June, four simultaneous raids took place at residential properties in the city. Special units of the federal police supported the operation. During the searches, detectives discovered various types of drugs, including cocaine, cannabis and nitrous oxide. They also found more than €5,900 in cash. Additionally, officers seized a blade weapon, a firearm, two e-scooters and a fatbike.
The four suspects were taken in for questioning. They only partially admitted what had happened. The investigating magistrate in Leuven decided to place them in pre-trial detention. Both on Friday and Tuesday, the chamber of indictment decided to extend their detention by thirty days. The judicial investigation is still ongoing under the direction of an investigating magistrate.
