The State General Prosecution announced that it will present formal charges against a woman who was arrested for her alleged participation in the fire at the Sub-mayoralty of District 8 in El Alto, known as Senkata. Additionally, it will seek preventive detention measures for the suspect.
The incident occurred amid protests and roadblocks taking place in the highland city. According to reports from El Deber (https://eldeber.com.bo/la-paz/altenos-no-estamos-bloqueando-gente-mal-intencionada-nos-ha-traido-evo-morales-asegura-ex-dirigente-vecinal_1781834539), neighbourhood leaders in the area claimed that those who broke into the Sub-mayoralty are not residents of the district, but people from the Chapare. Senkata residents indicated that these individuals looted the district's assets and warned that they have already identified those involved, so they will bring them before the courts.
Eddy Condori, former leader of the Federation of Neighbourhood Associations of El Alto, declared in an interview with the same media outlet that residents of El Alto are not blocking. He argued that these are ill-intentioned people who were sent from the Chapare. Condori added that there is no national demand that justifies the disruption to the current government.
Residents of the area declared themselves in a state of emergency and demanded that those from other areas withdraw from the city. "The people from Chapare are blocking; these gentlemen should go and block their province, why are they getting involved here?" they questioned.
The investigation of the case continues in the hands of the competent authorities.
