A Tarija court revoked the house arrest of a police captain linked to the murder of Mauricio Aramayo and ordered his transfer to Yacuiba prison for six months.

The ordinary courts of Tarija decided to annul the home detention that a Bolivian Police officer was enjoying and instead decreed that he remain imprisoned for six months in the El Palmar penitentiary centre, located in Yacuiba. The uniformed officer, identified as David A. H., is accused of participating in the murder of Mauricio Aramayo, former head of the National Service for Agricultural Health and Food Safety (Senasag).
The chief prosecutor of the department, José Ernesto Mogro, explained to El Deber that the Public Ministry appealed the substitute measure that allowed the officer to remain in his residence under the Roma-Argo monitoring scheme. A criminal court accepted the appeal and changed the legal status of the defendant.
According to Mogro, there is compelling evidence that the captain collaborated in the attack. The official stated that the police officer was aware of the conspiracy to kill Aramayo and that, using confidential information from the investigation, he cooperated to allow the hitmen to escape.
The case opened when José E.G.T., known as "El Gumito", identified the officer as part of the plot. Following that account, the local Public Ministry issued the arrest warrant.
The murder was committed on 8 January on Avenida Domingo Paz in the city of Tarija. Recently, law enforcement captured another suspect who allegedly collected the pistol used in the murder.
In total, five individuals are imprisoned for this crime. Four are held in the Morros Blancos complex in Tarija, and the fifth —captain David A. H.— was transferred to the El Palmar prison.
