Shooting victim from Aarau rave: 'I didn't notice I had been hit'

Fabrizio Grande (31) was among five injured when an attacker opened fire on the crowd at a rave in Aarau. A 22-year-old woman, identified as M., was killed in the attack. Grande was struck by a bullet in the hip — but did not initially notice.
According to 20 Minuten, Grande described his experience of the attack in an interview with TeleM1. "I keep thinking about the same thing: how he turned towards me," he says. "It's crazy that someone is standing there with an AK and just wants to take you out." The weapon used appears to have been an AK-74.
Before taking shelter behind a parked car, Grande even called out to the attacker: "You poor wretch, stop it." Behind the vehicle, two people he did not know were already waiting — they drew his attention to the fact that he was bleeding. "They told me, 'you're bleeding all over the place'," he recalls. The two provided him with first aid.
Police subsequently brought Grande to safety. On a bench, a doctor treated him with a pressure dressing before he was transported away in an ambulance. "When I was lying in there, I just thought: shit," says the Swiss man.
Grande himself speaks of fortune in misfortune. After the first shot, the weapon clicked twice without firing. "It had a malfunction, something happened," he told TeleM1. "Maybe I had a guardian angel, God knows what it was. But actually he should have hit me several times."
