A man of Peruvian nationality who presented himself at a Colombian Migration office in the city of Armenia, Quindío, to conduct a procedure was detained by the migration authorities after it was discovered that he had a red notice from Interpol for the crime of sexual violence.
The procedure was carried out when officials verified the foreign national's background in international information systems. After confirming that the individual was wanted by the international police organisation, they proceeded with his arrest and notification of the competent authorities.
Gloria Arriero, director of Colombian Migration, confirmed the apprehension of the Peruvian citizen during his passage through the entity's facilities in the capital of Quindío.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities so that the steps to be followed regarding extradition or compliance with the international arrest warrant could be determined.
