Twelve arrests in nationwide night operations

Twelve people were arrested in a single night across Cyprus following organised patrols in urban areas throughout the country, according to Philenews. The operations aimed at preventing criminal activity, safeguarding public order and enhancing the sense of security.

The offences for which charges were brought include illegal residence on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, burglary and theft, knife possession, as well as causing bodily harm.

During the night, 446 vehicles were stopped and 574 drivers and passengers were checked. In parallel, 31 premises inspections were carried out, which resulted in one complaint.

As part of traffic control checks, 227 traffic violations were recorded, of which 66 concerned speeding. Of the 103 alcohol tests conducted, one driver tested positive. In six drug tests, one positive result was also recorded. Three vehicles were seized during police operations.
