18-year-old arrested in Famagusta for circulation of counterfeit €50 notes
Police in Famagusta district arrested an 18-year-old for possession and circulation of counterfeit banknotes. A total of 23 counterfeit €50 notes bearing the same serial number were seized.

Arrest of 18-year-old for counterfeit banknotes in Famagusta district
According to Cyprus Mail, an 18-year-old was arrested for possession and circulation of counterfeit banknotes, according to a police announcement on Tuesday.
Police in Famagusta district acted following a report concerning two €50 notes bearing a common serial number. The banknotes were recovered from an employee of a local business.
Subsequently, authorities located the suspect, in whose possession two other €50 notes bearing the same serial number were found. A search carried out in the hotel room where he was staying uncovered 19 additional counterfeit notes with the same number, which were seized as evidence.
A total of 23 counterfeit banknotes were placed under seizure. The 18-year-old was to be presented before the District Court of Famagusta in Paralimni on the same day, whilst the police investigation is ongoing.
