A 19-year-old was arrested in Limassol after hitting a police motorcycle with a pickup truck and slightly injuring the rider, according to authorities.

A young man aged 19 was arrested in Limassol after, according to the authorities, hitting a police motorcycle with the pickup truck he was driving, knocking the rider to the ground. The incident is said to have occurred on Thursday afternoon, when police officers signalled the driver to stop, as the vehicle did not have registration plates.
The 19-year-old initially stopped the pickup truck, but then reversed and hit the motorcycle that was behind him. The police officer riding the motorcycle was slightly injured. Subsequently, the officer drew his weapon and fired three times at the vehicle, hitting one of the tyres, whilst the young man managed to escape.
Following the incident, the police officer was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.
The subsequent investigation led the authorities to the 19-year-old. Police officers located the pickup truck parked outside his house at 11:15 on Friday night. As soon as he noticed the presence of police officers, he attempted to flee, but was arrested.
The young man is expected to be brought before court on Saturday. Police investigations into the case continue.
