Police authorities proceeded yesterday with the arrest of a 28-year-old man in the Ammochostos area, based on a warrant that had been issued against him. The arrest is related to a vehicle break-in case that took place on 15 June 2026.

Immediately afterwards, police forces carried out a search at the suspect's place of residence, who was staying in a hotel room. During the operation, numerous items were discovered that had been removed from vehicles, including mobile devices, wallets, bags, perfumes and car keys. The findings were seized as evidence material.

When called upon to explain how they came to be in his possession, the young man did not provide adequate answers. For this reason, he was arrested for a second time, this time on the charge of unlawful possession of another's property.

During the investigation of the case by prosecuting authorities, evidence emerged implicating him in twelve further similar thefts from vehicles. On the morning of the same day he was brought before the Ammochostos District Court, which ordered his remand in custody for eight days in order to facilitate investigations.

The police department of the area continues to examine the full extent of the suspect's activities.
