Police arrested a 42-year-old in Nicosia yesterday after spotting him driving a stolen vehicle with registration plates that had also been reported as stolen. According to Philenews, a small quantity of cannabis was found in his possession.

Around 5 p.m., officers from Ledra Station signalled the driver to stop for inspection. The 42-year-old accelerated and attempted to flee. Police followed him and, at some point, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, but was apprehended shortly afterwards.

An inspection revealed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen on 27 August in Famagusta province. The registration plates it bore belonged to another vehicle and had also been reported as stolen. During a search of the vehicle's interior, a small quantity of cannabis was seized.
