Three young men, aged 18, travelling on Swedish passports have been arrested for assaulting a 47-year-old Turkish Cypriot in Ayia Napa. A fourth person is being sought.

Three men aged 18, who hold Swedish travel documents, have been detained following an assault against a 47-year-old Turkish Cypriot in the Ayia Napa area.
According to reports carried by the Cyprus News Agency (KYPE), the assault occurred in the cosmopolitan beachfront area. Police authorities proceeded with the arrest of the three young men in the early morning hours in order to facilitate investigations into the incident.
Although the detainees display Swedish citizenship, their origins are traced to third countries. As it was reported, the three come from Albania, Chile and Iraq respectively.
The three young men are expected to be brought before the District Court of Famagusta, where applications will be made for their remand orders.
In parallel, the prosecuting authorities are still searching for a fourth person, who has already been identified and recognised by the authorities.
