Bloody clash in Ayia Napa: Four injured, arrests for attempted murder
In the early morning of Wednesday, shortly after 4:30, police rushed to a location in Ayia Napa following a call about a quarrel outside a catering establishment. At the scene of the incident they found four men with injuries.
According to the information that emerged, three of the victims — aged 22, 25 and 41 — bore wounds that appear to have been caused by a sharp object. Another 22-year-old presented with head injuries.
Authorities approached a 21-year-old at the scene, whom they consider a suspect for the attack. The young man is alleged to have injured the first three, whilst the second 22-year-old is believed to have accompanied the alleged perpetrator. The suspect is of Israeli origin.
When police approached, the 21-year-old is alleged to have insulted them, resulting in his arrest for flagrant criminal offences, including causing a disturbance and disturbing public peace.
All the injured were transported to Ammochostos General Hospital. The 22-year-old with injuries from the sharp object is hospitalised in a serious condition. The other two — aged 25 and 41 — sustained lighter injuries. The second 22-year-old also remains under observation owing to blows to the head and face.
Of the four victims, three are Cypriot citizens and the fourth — a friend of the suspect — is from Israel.
