A member of the Cypriot security forces, aged 55, used his service revolver to shoot from close range his 46-year-old partner inside her vehicle. The incident occurred in Limassol in the early hours of the morning while the perpetrator was on duty. After leaving his wife in critical condition, he turned the same weapon against himself, resulting in his immediate death.
The Crime Detection Department of the city is conducting an investigation into the causes and circumstances of the tragedy. The victim continues to be hospitalised in critical condition.
On social media, a family member of the injured woman from her previous marriage alleged that the woman had long suffered psychological abuse, fear and restriction of her personal freedom. The post called for respect for their mother who was "fighting to stay alive".
