Greek researchers arrived on the island to examine allegations of collusion between state officials and organised crime, following a decision by the Cabinet.

Researchers from Greece are now in Nicosia, undertaking duties as part of the investigation into cases of corruption and interconnections between state officials and illegal networks. Their arrival follows a government decision to establish a special committee of independent investigators.
On Monday, a meeting took place at the Philoxenia Conference Centre, where the researchers made contact with the head of the Justice Ministry and the deputy director of the security forces. During the meeting, matters concerning the coordination and operation of the committee were discussed.
Immediately afterwards, the researchers began their work, committed to acting with autonomy and neutrality, based on the remit they have been given. The Justice Ministry expressed wishes for the successful completion of their mission.
