The Treasury is warning of fraud through fake messages requesting banking information under the pretext of payment of automatic salary increases.

Fraudsters are targeting citizens through fake electronic messages that appear to come from the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus, according to a warning issued by the service itself. The fake emails bear the official logo of the Treasury and ask recipients to provide personal details and banking account codes, on the pretext that this is needed for them to receive Automatic Salary Increases.
The aim of the perpetrators is to extract sensitive financial information from unsuspecting citizens. The Treasury calls on anyone who receives such messages not to reply and to delete them immediately.
The service emphasises that all official communication with the public is conducted only from email addresses ending in @treasury.gov.cy. Any other email does not come from the Treasury and should be considered suspicious.
