Attempted femicide in Limassol: Police explain their stance on the crime and psychological support
In a written statement, the Force Headquarters expressed deep regret for the bloody incident that unfolded in Limassol. According to available information, a police officer shot his partner, inflicting critical injuries on her, and subsequently fatally wounded himself.
The management of the service states that everyone's thoughts are with the victim, who is fighting for survival, as well as with her relatives who are going through difficult times.
At the same time, the Police clarify that the case is being investigated intensively by the competent authorities. It emphasises that any public comment on the actual circumstances or the motives behind the act is considered premature and potentially harmful to the judicial process. For this reason, it does not intend to make any further statements before the investigations are completed.
With regard to reports that circulated in the media, the Police point out that psychological support and the welfare of its personnel are a priority. Within this framework, a specialised department operates with professional psychologists, which provides counselling and prevention programmes. When the necessary conditions are met, the envisaged protective procedures are activated immediately.
The Force assures that it will continue to handle the case with sincerity and accountability, whilst full details will emerge from the progress of the investigation.
