Failed bank robbery in Kiti: Masked individuals never entered
An alarm was raised today in Kiti when two people with covered faces attempted to enter a banking institution branch, but were unsuccessful.
According to a report by the newspaper Politis, a car with two occupants arrived shortly before the incident outside a Bank of Cyprus branch in the area. The passengers parked on the pavement, exited the vehicle with covered faces and were carrying sports-style bags.
They immediately moved towards the shop entrance, but the door remained closed thanks to the electronic control system in operation there. After a few minutes, the two suspects returned to their vehicle, got in and disappeared from the scene.
Strong police forces rushed to the location, whilst the road in front of the bank branch was closed to facilitate the investigation. Officers from the Crime Detection Department of Larnaca are in the area and are conducting on-site inspections, along with other investigations to identify those responsible.
No one was injured during the incident, and no items or sum of money were removed. The investigation by the prosecuting authorities is continuing at an intensive pace.
