Police authorities in Larnaca are conducting an investigation into the disappearance of a young man aged 22, following a report filed by his flatmate in the early morning hours of Friday.
The 22-year-old, a foreign student, left his residence at approximately 6:30 in the evening of the previous day, heading to an industrial space where he was to begin work.
That same evening, his father, who lives in another country, received a call from an unknown person, along with written messages. The unknown caller demanded the payment of a sum of money in order for his son to be released.
The city's criminal investigation unit has taken over the investigation.
