Seven arrests and 253 traffic offences in night-time operation across Cyprus
Police conducted organised patrols at key points in urban areas throughout Cyprus during the night of yesterday, according to Philenews. The aim of the operations was to prevent serious criminal activity, ensure public order and strengthen citizens' sense of security.
During the night, a total of seven individuals were arrested for various offences, including illegal residence on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and vehicle theft. A total of 851 vehicles were stopped for inspection, whilst 1,130 drivers and passengers were examined.
Additionally, 44 premises were inspected, resulting in 14 offence reports. As part of traffic control checks, 253 traffic offence reports were recorded — 64 of which related to speeding.
Of the 438 alcohol tests conducted, 31 drivers tested positive. Furthermore, nine vehicles were impounded during police inspections.
Police operations for crime prevention and suppression continue daily with increased presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action.
