Three people were arrested and more than 300 violations were recorded in a night-time operation by Cypriot authorities.
During the previous night, the police increased their presence across the island through organised patrols in central locations in towns. The aim of the operation was to prevent serious criminal activity, maintain public order and strengthen the public's sense of security.
The three individuals taken into custody are accused of various offences, including unlawful residence in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and unlawful employment.
In road checks, the authorities stopped 895 vehicles and examined 1,125 drivers and passengers. In parallel, 71 inspections were carried out at establishments, from which 16 violations were recorded.
A total of 309 violations of the Road Traffic Code were verified. Eighty of these concerned excessive speed. From 466 alcohol tests, 33 drivers tested positive. Additionally, in four drug tests, three positive cases were detected. During the operations, 22 vehicles were seized.
