A 42-year-old police officer was placed on suspension after being arrested on Wednesday (10/06) in the Limassol district. He is being investigated for acts allegedly committed between May and June of the current year.
The charges he faces include conspiracy to obstruct justice, attempted witness tampering, interference in judicial proceedings, and threats. The case is linked to a 45-year-old special constable who was arrested in May as part of a joint operation by the police and the Organised Crime Fighting Subdirectorate, in connection with a network with international connections and financial activities in the country.
According to philenews, the 42-year-old is employed at a station in the city. Investigators believe he approached a witness in the case against the 45-year-old with the aim of instructing or persuading him regarding the content of his testimony, so that it would benefit the accused.
Following the completion of investigations, the police officer will be formally charged and presented before the judicial authorities.
