A human body has been found in the wider Larnaca area as part of an investigation into the disappearance of a young student from Bangladesh.
Investigations by the Larnaca CID into the case of 22-year-old Shahruar Ahmed Emon led to charges against a foreign national, also 22 years old. Police located him and placed him in custody.
During interrogation, the arrested man allegedly confessed to the act. Subsequently, according to reports, he indicated to the investigators a specific location in Larnaca district where the body of a man was found. Authorities believe the victim is the abducted student.
The area has been cordoned off by the prosecuting authorities, who are conducting thorough examinations. Further details are expected once work at the scene is completed.
The Larnaca Crime Detection Department is continuing the preliminary investigation.
