Police operations in urban centres have led to arrests for drugs, knives and assault on a police officer, alongside hundreds of traffic violations.

Ten arrests from extensive police checks across Cyprus

Extensive police operations conducted on the night of the previous day in urban zones across Cyprus resulted in the arrest of ten individuals. The authorities carried out targeted patrols aimed at preventing serious offences and strengthening public sense of security.

Among the offences detected were illegal possession of property, illegal residence in the country, failure to appear in court, assault against a police officer, possession of prohibited substances and carrying a knife.

During the checks, the authorities stopped and examined 573 drivers and 143 passengers. Regarding road safety, 283 violations were recorded, including 93 for exceeding the permitted speed limit. Three traffic violation cases were also placed under investigation, whilst six vehicles were seized.

In alcohol tests conducted on 91 drivers, two cases tested positive. Additionally, two individuals tested positive in a preliminary check for drugs.
