Police made ten arrests and issued 358 driver charges during preventative operations conducted across various areas of Cyprus.

Ten people were arrested yesterday evening as police conducted preventative operations across multiple areas.

The detained individuals are accused of various offences, including illegal residence on the territory of the Republic, burglary, theft, illegal possession of property, assault and breaches of the Road Traffic Code.

During the night, authorities stopped 679 vehicles for inspection and examined 949 drivers and passengers. Simultaneously, 45 inspections of premises were carried out, resulting in 4 charges.

In traffic control checks, police officers issued 358 charges for various violations. Of these, 157 concerned drivers travelling above the speed limit. Additionally, 155 breath tests resulted in 10 drivers being detected who had consumed alcohol. In 7 drugs tests, 4 individuals tested positive.

Furthermore, authorities seized 15 vehicles.

Police operations for crime prevention and combating criminality continue on a daily basis, with enhanced deployment of forces, targeted inspections and immediate action, with the safety of citizens and the maintenance of public order as the priority.
