Three men and ten women were arrested in organised police operations for a range of offences, whilst 303 traffic code violations were recorded.

On the evening of last Thursday, police forces conducted targeted patrols in urban centres across the island. The result was the apprehension of thirteen individuals — amongst them ten women and three men — for various criminal offences.
As reported by PhileNews, the charges brought included theft, illegal residence in the Republic, intoxication, aggressive behaviour towards an officer, incitement to public disorder, driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as possession of break-in tools and a device that fires dangerous substances.
During the checks, authorities stopped and examined 699 drivers and 264 passengers. In 47 inspections carried out at shops and other premises, seven summonses were issued.
In the area of road safety, police officers imposed 303 penalties for violations of the Road Traffic Code. Ninety-six of these concerned drivers who were travelling at speeds exceeding the permitted limit. Additionally, 411 breath tests were conducted, which resulted in 30 positive readings, whilst traces of drugs were detected in a preliminary test on one driver. Twenty-one vehicles were removed from circulation for further investigation.
Police operations continue on a daily basis, with an intensified presence at strategic points, in order to ensure social order and strengthen citizens' sense of protection.
