Today the Paphos Criminal Court will make public its decision regarding whether the trial against Phaethon Phaethon will take place without the presence of the public and journalists.

The criminal proceedings have been scheduled to begin on 27 July. The defendant himself did not acknowledge his guilt on the five charges that have been brought against him.

Prosecutor Irini Savva, representing the Prosecuting Authority, had submitted a relevant application at the session of 24 June. The application is based on the need to protect the complainant.

The court had retained the right to announce its decision at a later stage, which is today.
