A lawyer is accused of sexually harassing a 19-year-old woman during a visit to the offices of the Drug Enforcement Agency in Limassol, where he had gone to represent her legally in a drugs case.

The District Court of Limassol has begun examining a case against a lawyer facing serious allegations from a young woman aged nineteen. The complainant alleges that the legal professional engaged in inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature when they met at the main office of the Drug Enforcement Agency in the city the previous week.
The young woman had previously been arrested in a matter related to narcotics, and the accused lawyer went to the Drug Enforcement Agency offices with the aim of taking on her defence. The meeting took place without the presence of a police officer. According to the complaint made by the minor, the lawyer sexually harassed her during their contact.
The Limassol Crime Detection Department proceeded with the arrest of the suspect last Thursday. During his detention for investigative purposes, the man made his personal statements, which were subsequently evaluated by the investigators. He was released at midday of the same day.
The case file was forwarded to the Legal Service for legal advice. The instructions issued prompted the rapid registration of the case in the courtroom. The related procedure was completed immediately afterwards, whilst the trial was adjourned for a future date.
The accused maintains the presumption of innocence until the court's final ruling.
