Lawyer denounces delay in filing criminal case over Larnaca police headquarters incidents
A six-month delay in filing a criminal case against persons who attacked with axes and offensive objects outside Larnaca Police Headquarters is being denounced in a letter by lawyer Alexandros Klerides. The letter is addressed to the President of the Republic and the Minister of Justice.
According to what he states, despite the fact that the Police know the identity of the perpetrators — as they received statements from them — and despite the fact that they immediately filed a case against the person who was attacked and suffered serious injury, there is no explanation for the failure to prosecute the attackers.
The incidents resulted in material damage as well as serious physical injury to a person who was already on the ground. Mr. Klerides characterises the delay as "truly unjustifiable".
