Police have arrested two more individuals in connection with the violent brawl in Xylofagou, bringing the total number of arrested persons to three.

Two additional men have been arrested by police in connection with the violent brawl that took place in the Xylofagou community on the evening of 8 July, bringing the total number of detained persons to three.
The two suspects, aged 20 and 30, were arrested on Monday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation and are expected to be brought before Famagusta District Court on Tuesday for the issuance of detention orders.
Previously, police had arrested a 27-year-old man on 9 July on the basis of a court warrant in connection with the same incident. He was remanded in custody to facilitate the investigations after evidence emerged linking him to the case.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. on 8 July, when police received information about a brawl between individuals in the Xylofagou community.
According to statements made by Xylofagou community leader Giorgos Iulianou to the Cyprus Mail, the brawl was sparked between two rival groups of foreign nationals from Syria, who had financial disputes. The community leader described the incident as isolated, responding to a question about whether such events are common in the area.
The violent brawl is reported to have involved approximately 15 to 20 individuals of Syrian origin. Police attended the scene of the incident, however they determined that those involved had already fled.
Xylofagou Police Station, in cooperation with Famagusta Crime Detection Department, continues its investigations.
