Two kilos of opium seized in Limassol
Police arrested two men, aged 21 and 23, in Limassol on Friday, following the seizure of a total of 2.1 kilos of opiate substances. According to Cyprus Mail, the 23-year-old was stopped by officers whilst walking on a street in the city on Friday afternoon.
During a search of his bag, two nylon packages containing dried poppy capsules were found, with a total net weight of 418 grammes. A search of the suspect's residence followed, where the 21-year-old was also located.
A cardboard box was seized from the house containing eight additional nylon packages with dried poppy capsules, with a total net weight of one kilo and 682 grammes. Both arrested men were brought before a court and remanded in custody.
