French court clears way for extradition of Lithuanian estate agent to Cyprus
French court rejected appeal by 53-year-old Lithuanian woman accused of misappropriation of Greek-Cypriot properties. Her extradition to the Republic of Cyprus is expected once formal procedures are completed.
French court opens path for extradition of Lithuanian estate agent to Cyprus
The Lithuanian estate agent arrested on 16 May at Nice airport will be extradited to the Republic of Cyprus after the French court rejected her appeal against the execution of the European arrest warrant. According to Politis, competent sources confirmed the information to KYPE, without clarifying exactly when the handover will take place.
The 53-year-old faces charges of misappropriation of Greek-Cypriot properties in the occupied territories. Her arrest was made on the basis of a European arrest warrant issued by the Republic of Cyprus, and in early July she appealed requesting non-execution of the warrant.
The competent French court required between two weeks and one month to examine the request, as KYPE had reported on 11 July. In the end, the court rejected the defendant's appeal. Thus, the European arrest warrant will be executed and the Lithuanian will be handed over to Cypriot authorities in order to stand trial.
The same sources stated that the extradition will take place "once formal procedures are completed", without providing a specific timeline.
