Report on 'Mafia State': Anti-Corruption Authority Announcement by 15 June

Anti-Corruption Authority: announcement on 'Mafia State' by 15 June
The Anti-Corruption Authority's announcement regarding the investigation into the book 'Mafia State' will be released no later than 15 June, said Transparency Commissioner Charis Pogiatzis to CNA, as reported by Politis.
In a previous announcement on 5 May, the Authority had stated that due to the voluminous material, it was not possible to determine the exact date of release, estimating however that it would take place before the end of June 2026. Pogiatzis has now set a specific date: 15 June.
When asked about other cases handled by the Authority, the Commissioner was emphatic: "All cases have been suspended until we finish with this one".
The final report from the four Inspection Officers was submitted to the Authority in electronic form within the set deadline, on 30 April 2026. The scope of the investigation is reflected in figures: 214 sessions and hearings to obtain testimony or evidence, 150 persons who testified as witnesses, 41 legal entities and government departments that provided information, and a total of 793 pieces of evidence.
The total number of pages of the report, including annexes, amounts to approximately 3,000. A special Working Group has been set up within the Authority to handle its processing, undertaking the study, evaluation and decision-making on its contents.
Until the announcement is released, all proceedings are conducted under conditions of complete confidentiality, in accordance with applicable legislative provisions.
