Police are investigating a new case of online fraud against a company in Larnaca, as reported by Google News GR — Crime (el).
According to the complaint, the perpetrators gained unauthorised access to the company's email and sent a fraudulent message that appeared to be from a partner company. Through this message, payment of nearly €39,000 was requested as consideration for a previous commercial transaction.
The company representative reported the case to Larnaca CID. The Police Communications Unit confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
In light of the incident, Police recommend that citizens verify such payment requests through telephone communication with the purported sender before proceeding with any transaction.
