Large-scale operations by the prosecuting authorities were conducted at night in multiple areas of the island, resulting in the arrest of nine people and the charging of one hundred and one drivers for breaching the speed limit.

According to a report by philenews.com, the prosecuting authorities carried out systematic patrols in city-centre locations with the aim of preventing violent acts, safeguarding public peace and strengthening public confidence.

From these operations, nine people were taken into custody accused of various criminal offences. These included the possession of a firearm and the discharge of shots, the unlawful possession of controlled substances, thefts, as well as the unlawful acquisition of property.

Alongside the arrests, the authorities proceeded to carry out checks on roads and premises. They stopped 370 vehicles for inspection and examined 498 occupants in them. Additionally, forty-five inspections were carried out at premises, which resulted in five charges.

Regarding road safety, the traffic authorities proceeded with 188 charges for breaches of the road traffic code. Of these, 101 concerned drivers who were travelling at a speed greater than the permitted limit. Furthermore, one driver was charged with driving after consuming alcohol, whilst 67 breathalyser tests were conducted. Three cases were placed under further investigation and four vehicles were immobilised.

The mobilisation of the prosecuting authorities will continue on a daily basis, with an increased presence on the roads, specialised inspections and an immediate response to incidents, with the safety of citizens and the protection of order as the guiding principles.
