During organised patrols in critical points across urban areas throughout Cyprus, police made nine arrests and issued 260 charges for traffic violations.

Last night, strong police forces were mobilised across the entire Republic, carrying out systematic patrols in key points in cities. The aim was to prevent serious criminal acts, maintain public order and reinforce public sense of security.

The policing operations led to the arrest of nine people for various offences, including unlawful residence in the territory, possession of narcotic substances, theft from vehicles and unlawful entry.

As regards driver checks, 455 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 591 persons were examined. From 46 inspections of premises, four charges resulted. On the roads, officers confirmed 260 breaches of the road traffic code, with 104 relating to excessive speed. Additionally, 116 alcohol tests were carried out, with two drivers testing positive, as well as five drug tests with two positive indications. Six vehicles were impounded.

Police announced that targeted operations continue on a daily basis, with enhanced presence and immediate operational response.
