An unknown man armed with a gun burst into a jewellery shop in Larnaca, seriously injuring the elderly owner before escaping with an accomplice.

This morning, at approximately 9:00, the Larnaca Crime Investigation Department received a report of a robbery in progress at a jewellery shop in the Drosía area.
According to witnesses, a man of unknown identity entered the shop wearing a black helmet that completely concealed his facial features. His clothing consisted of a black long-sleeved shirt and a food delivery gilet. Upon entering, he raised a firearm, threatening the 73-year-old shop owner.
The elderly man did not back down and attempted to resist. The would-be robber struck him on the head with the handle or barrel of the weapon, causing a fractured skull. Despite the serious injury, the owner managed to drive the attacker out of his shop.
Shortly afterwards, the perpetrator got into a car that was waiting for him near the scene. Initial investigations indicate that the vehicle was driven by a second person of unknown identity, possibly a foreigner.
Police officers arrived at the scene to collect evidence. The injured man was transferred to a hospital unit where doctors gave him stitches. His condition is stable and he is expected to be discharged soon.
The Larnaca Crime Investigation Department has undertaken the investigation of the case.
