Eleven arrests and hundreds of traffic violations in one night

Extensive police operations conducted overnight in numerous towns across Cyprus resulted in the detection of hundreds of violations and the arrest of eleven individuals. Law enforcement forces carried out organised patrols in high-risk locations with the aim of combating crime and strengthening public safety.

Among those detained, some face charges of unlawful residence in the country, whilst others face charges related to possession of weapons, drunk behaviour and assault causing serious injury. In total, 768 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 987 individuals, drivers and passengers, were examined. Additionally, 54 shops and premises were inspected, with five of them being cited.

Regarding road traffic violations, 368 cases were recorded, of which 97 were for speeding in excess of the limit. In alcohol checks, 27 of the 229 drivers tested were found to have levels above the permitted amount. In addition, four drug tests identified one positive case, whilst six vehicles were seized.
