Police forces arrested 11 people during an organised operation in urban areas in connection with cases involving drugs, weapons and thefts.

Cypriot law enforcement authorities carried out the arrest of 11 people on Sunday evening. The detained individuals face multiple charges, including the possession and trafficking of substances controlled by law, money laundering from criminal acts, carrying knives, theft, possession of goods without payment of duties, and unlawful residence in the country.
The operation forms part of a broader programme of police patrols conducted in areas of heightened interest within cities. The aim of the patrols is to prevent serious crimes, maintain social order and strengthen public confidence in the authorities.
During the night-time operation, police officers checked 554 drivers and 126 passengers in vehicles. Additionally, 43 inspections were carried out at shops and other premises, resulting in eight reports for disorderly conduct.
At the same time, 399 traffic violations were recorded during road safety checks. Of these, 104 involved drivers who exceeded speed limits. Twenty-three cases of possible traffic violations requiring further investigation were also examined.
In the context of checks for driving under the influence of alcohol, which totalled 69, six violators were identified. Four drivers tested positive in preliminary screening for drug use. Nineteen vehicles were seized by the authorities.
In a statement, the Police emphasised that targeted operations will continue relentlessly, with increased presence on the streets and immediate response to incidents, with the protection of society as the guiding principle.
