Investigation into car arson in the Agioi Omologiti area
A vehicle belonging to a 23-year-old woman was completely destroyed by fire in the early morning hours in the Agioi Omologiti neighbourhood of Nicosia, whilst prosecuting authorities are examining the possibility of criminal activity.
According to information released by the Police, the fire started at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the parked car. Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the flames; however, the vehicle had already sustained irreparable damage.
Initial assessments by officers who visited the scene of the incident led to the conclusion that the cause of the fire was deliberate. For this reason, the area was cordoned off so that a detailed examination could be carried out at first light.
The preliminary investigation into the incident was undertaken by Nicosia's Criminal Investigation and Examination Department.
