Six individuals were held in custody and 271 traffic violations were recorded during a wide-ranging operation carried out on Thursday night in cities across the island.

According to Philenews, the checks were conducted at strategic points in urban zones with the aim of preventing serious offences, maintaining order, and strengthening public confidence in safety. The authorities proceeded to arrest six individuals for various criminal offences, including failure to appear before court, consumption of alcohol and causing a disturbance, as well as violations of traffic regulations.

During the checks, 455 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 599 individuals, drivers and passengers, were examined. Forty-one shops and premises were checked, with seven violations being identified. Of the 271 traffic violations, 89 concerned exceeding the speed limit.

In parallel, ninety alcohol tests were conducted, with six drivers testing positive. Four drugs tests resulted in one positive indication. Twelve vehicles were seized.

Police operations continue on a daily basis with increased road presence, targeted checks and immediate intervention, with the aim of protecting citizens and preserving public order.
