Six people were arrested during night-time police operations in urban areas across Cyprus. An assault on a police officer was recorded, along with thefts and traffic violations.

Six arrests and assault on police officer during night patrols across Cyprus

Six people were arrested the previous evening during organised police patrols at key locations in urban areas across Cyprus, according to Philenews.

The offences for which the arrests were made include theft from a motor vehicle, unlawful presence on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, unlawful possession of drugs and assault on a police officer.

As part of the same operations, 446 drivers and 131 passengers were stopped and checked. In addition, 38 premises inspections were conducted, which resulted in two reports.

During traffic control checks, a total of 246 reports were recorded for various violations, whilst 14 cases are under investigation. Notably, 68 reports were issued for exceeding the speed limit, whilst eight vehicles were retained.

Of the 162 alcohol checks conducted, one report was issued. Additionally, three cases of driving under the influence of drugs were detected following a preliminary drugs test.

The Police announced that policing operations for the prevention and suppression of crime continue daily with increased presence and targeted checks.
