Six people were arrested in targeted police operations across Cyprus for various offences, including illegal possession of drugs, domestic violence and illegal residence.

Six people were taken into custody the previous night after being identified during extensive checks conducted by police across the territory of the Republic. The arrests were related to charges of illegal possession of substances, incidents of violent behaviour within the home, as well as residence in the country without the required legal status.
In an official announcement issued by the security forces, it was stated that during the night 358 vehicles and 440 people inside them were checked. At the same time, 46 searches were carried out in shops and other locations with the aim of combating illegal activities. Three new cases resulted from these.
On the roads, traffic police officers recorded 234 violations, whilst a further 19 cases were placed under investigation. Thirteen vehicles were immobilised and taken to storage facilities.
In more detail, 38 drivers were charged with excessive speed and five with driving under the influence of alcohol. Two further cases involved drivers who were allegedly found to have taken prohibited substances, according to preliminary tests. In total, 58 alcohol tests and five drug detection tests were carried out on drivers.
