A 48-year-old woman has been remanded in custody for six days on suspicion of involvement in the burglary of a 79-year-old's home in Nicosia and the theft of €270,000 in cash. The money has not been recovered.

A court has ordered a six-day remand in custody for a 48-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of involvement in a burglary and theft of a large sum of money from the home of an elderly resident in Nicosia.
The incident was reported on 2 July by a 79-year-old resident of the capital, who stated that €270,000 in various banknotes had disappeared from his house. Members of the Nicosia Crime Investigation Department attended the scene, where they found evidence of forced entry on both the front door and internal doors of the residence. The premises were in a state of considerable disarray.
In the course of investigations, witness material was obtained and an arrest warrant was issued against the 48-year-old. The suspect was located and arrested on the afternoon of 7 July. The following day she was brought before the competent court, which approved a Police request for her remand in custody for six days to facilitate further investigations.
To date, the stolen money has not been recovered.
