Woman charged with 30 knife wounds to husband in Gerovakkos
A 49-year-old woman appeared before a court in Nicosia charged with the murder of her husband with 30 knife wounds. She remains in custody for a further eight days.

Charged with murder of husband in Gerovakkos — 30 knife injuries
According to the Cyprus Mail, a 49-year-old woman appeared before a court in northern Nicosia on Wednesday, charged with the murder of her husband in the village of Gerovakkos in Nicosia district. The court was informed that the victim sustained a total of 30 knife injuries.
A spokesperson for the Turkish Cypriot police stated before the court that the autopsy on the man's body had been completed, and a total of 20 statements had been taken so far since the incident occurred on Saturday evening. It was also announced that footage from local security cameras would be examined.
The court ordered that the accused be transferred to Varosha psychiatric hospital in northern Nicosia in order to undergo psychiatric evaluation and to determine whether she is fit to stand trial.
According to the news website Haber Kibris, the woman's lawyer asked during the hearing whether his client was receiving psychiatric treatment, and the police spokesperson confirmed that she was indeed receiving it.
The court ordered the extension of the accused's remand in custody for a further eight days, whilst the police investigation into the case continues.
