A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to eight years' imprisonment by the Permanent Criminal Court of Famagusta, which found him guilty of sexual abuse. The investigation was conducted by the Investigation and Examination Department of the local Police.

The complaint about the incident was submitted to the authorities, with the offence alleged to have been committed on 13 July 2024, in an area of Famagusta district. The victim was a woman. The police authorities completed their investigations and forwarded the case to the judiciary at the end of July of the same year.

During the trial, the accused remained in remand custody, in accordance with a court order. Following examination of the evidence presented by the Prosecution Authority, the court proceeded to issue the conviction decision.
