A joint operation by customs officials and the anti-narcotics bureau (YKAN) resulted in the seizure of 1,440 cannabis lollipops and a large quantity of suspected counterfeit goods at a transport company in Limassol. The merchandise was discovered on Wednesday inside three shipping containers that had arrived from Greece, during routine inspections at the company's premises.
The Customs Department announced on Thursday that officials had identified a suspicious package addressed to a monastery. During the inspection, boxes intended for two companies were seized, containing various branded toys believed to be counterfeit. Additionally, 1,440 cannabis lollipops in various flavours were discovered.
The box addressed to the Monastery of Irini Chrysovalantou bore an indication that it contained personal items. However, the inspection revealed perfumes and sunglasses that are also suspected to be counterfeit.
