Paphos resident lost €47,406 in telephone phishing fraud
A Paphos resident fell victim to online fraud and lost €47,406 after being directed to a fake bank website. Police are investigating the incident from 15 June.

A Paphos resident lost €47,406 through online fraud, police announced on Tuesday, according to Cyprus Mail.
The incident occurred on 15 June, when the man received a telephone call from an unknown person. The caller informed him that suspicious activity had been detected on his bank account and that the account had been frozen.
The victim was then directed to log into his account via a foreign website, following instructions given to him over the telephone. He later discovered that a total of €47,406 had been withdrawn from his account.
Police urged the public to exercise particular caution regarding telephone calls, email messages or other online communications from unknown persons requesting personal or banking details. Investigation into the case continues.
