The Cyprus government has decided to appoint multiple independent investigators to evaluate the findings of the Anti-Corruption Authority regarding the book 'Mafia State', which implicated former president Nicos Anastasiades in potential abuse of power.

The Cyprus government plans to appoint more than one independent investigator in order to examine the conclusions reached by the Anti-Corruption Authority during its own investigation into the book 'Mafia State'.
According to the Authority's findings, the former president of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades may bear criminal responsibility for abuse of power. The decision to appoint a team of criminal investigators—and not just one person—was announced by government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
Letymbiotis stated that the selection of appropriate personnel would be made as soon as possible, while the initial intention had been announced the previous week.
