The naming of criminal investigators who will investigate the matters referred to in reports surrounding the book "Mafia State" is expected to take place shortly, according to statements made by government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

The government spokesman, when asked about the timeline for the appointment, stressed that priority is being given to announcing as soon as possible the individuals who will undertake the investigation. The reports to be examined come from the Independent Authority Against Corruption, as well as from the Ombudsmen.

Last week, the Attorney General's Council made a decision to forward both reports — including all attached documents — to the Police and the Cabinet of Ministers. This step was deemed necessary in order to activate the legal procedures provided for in respect of any criminal offences that may arise from the conclusions of the investigation.

As reported by Philenews, there may be related announcements at the Cabinet of Ministers' meeting next Wednesday.
