The Larnaca Police are attempting to establish the identity of a woman found dead in a flat in the city, using genetic analysis and seeking assistance from the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
The body was discovered by police officers who attended the building following a report. A passport from the Czech Republic was found at the scene, which belongs to a woman born in 1944. However, due to the condition of the body, the authorities cannot confirm whether the victim is indeed the person named in the travel document.
The investigation is ongoing. The police authorities have requested the assistance of Interpol in order to locate relatives or other information that will help with the identification process. At the same time, DNA samples are being examined for genetic identification.
The flat where the body was found is believed to have been the victim's residence. The authorities are examining all possibilities, including the possibility of criminal activity.
